Terms & conditions for Mama’s shows

Here’s where I go into detail about the various shows I’m offering so that we’re all clear on what’s going to happen and suchlike.

  1. INSURANCE:

    I have Public Liability Insurance - via my union Equity -  covering me for up to £10million, as do the musicians I work with. I can email you over a copy of my current certificate.

  1. LICENSING:

    You might need to get a Temporary Events Notice in plenty of time. I’ll guide you through the process.

    The £21 cost of the TEN is not included in the fee.

  1. SPACE:

    We’ll need enough space for us to be able to perform properly for you. That will change depending on what package you choose. Here’s an idea of the space you’ll need:

    DUO GIG - 1.5m deep x 2m wide

    TRIO GIG - 1.5m deep x 2m wide

    QUARTET GIG - 2.5m deep x 2.5m wide

    SUPER-SHOW - This is going to include up to 10 musicians and is better on a stage or riser, at least 5m x 5m

  2. …AND TIME:

    We’re flexible and we’ll decide together about the best way to play this, but you won’t have less than 2 x 45 minute sets or 3 x 30 minute sets. We’ll work something out to suit your needs entirely.

  1. SOUND & ELECTRICS:

    The PA/sound-system that I normally use is fine for a decent-sized hall. Any bigger and we might need to hire one in, which isn’t included in the fee.

    We’ll make sure all our electrical gear is PAT-tested.

  1. LIGHTING:

    We’ll supply a basic static lighting set-up to bring the atmosphere. If you require anything more complex, let’s talk.

  1. TRAVEL:

    Getting to and from the gig is NOT included in the fee. Sheesh. You might be in Aberdeen/Abu Dhabi/Aberystwyth for all we know. We’ll be getting to you in the most economical way possible, though we’ll liaise with you about this from the off.

  2. DATES:

    Your gig must be at least 1 month in advance of your booking and no later than a year in advance.

    We’ll try our hardest to get the date you want but that may not always be possible. We’re working regularly and may have shows in the book already but we’ll try our hardest to accommodate you.

  3. PAYMENT:

    Plonking your deposit down (via this website) signals that you’re interested in booking a Mama Tokus show but it doesn’t confirm the gig fully. The gig is only confirmed when you have paid the total balance.

    After your deposit’s paid, I’ll be in touch to get the ball rolling, sort dates, find out about the venue and talk through these Ts & Cs.

    I’ll send you Mama’s bank details for you to settle up and secure the gig/date.

  4. MUSIC:

    Last but definitely NOT least: we’re jazz, funk, groove-lovin’  musicians. We’re going to give you some fine dancey grooves and tonnes of atmosphere and virtuosity. We don’t mind collaborating with you over our set lists, but we’re not a function band performing your favourite disco/Oasis/Abba tunes. There are plenty of bands you can hire to do that for you. We’re going to be hitting you with a FABULOUS blend of top dancefloor jazz and electricity for your feet (and heads). Trust us on that.
